Scrap 005: Give it a Minute

Every now and again — say one gloomy Wednesday in April — it's a good idea to take a minute, just for yourself, to remember:

Who you are.

To drink more water.

What you love.

To go for a walk.

What loves you back.

To put down your phone.

That you love yourself.

To stretch, seriously.

The last time you laughed so hard.

To let it go.

The last time you cried.

To take a deep breath.

That you are brave.

To order dessert.

That you can do it, whatever it is.

To measure twice.

That you've done it before, remember?

To sharpen your knives.

That it will be okay.

To kill your darlings.

That it won't be okay sometimes, but that's okay too.

To call them back.

That it will often be better than okay.

To call them first.

That you are good enough.

To listen intently.

That happiness is within you.

To look closely.

That happiness is not the destination.

To ask for help if you need it.

That this is not the rehearsal.

To be more kind to yourself.

That you can't change the past.

To stretch again, seriously.

That the future is not certain.

To take nothing for granted.

That you are alive, now, in this very moment.
